Multiple Wind Energy Projects in California’s Largest Wind Resource Area Collaborate to Minimize Potential Impacts and Protect California Condors

Tehachapi, CA, June 16, 2023 – California’s new Wind Energy Condor Action Team (WECAT), a consortium of 24 wind energy companies, will begin implementation of a Condor Conservation Plan (CCP) consistent with a permit issued to them from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (Service) today.

 Tehachapi, CA – California’s new Wind Energy Condor Action Team (WECAT), a consortium of 24 wind energy companies, submitted a permit application and Condor Conservation Plan (CCP) to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (Service) and the Service released its draft Environmental Assessment (EA) of the conservation plan today. The draft EA and CCP are available for public review and comment through March 24, 2023.
